YDRA Presents to Elected Member’s Forum

A few months ago YDRA committee member Cindy Wittlesea conducted an online survey within the Yankalilla District to get the community’s opinion on the services provided by the Fleurieu Reginal Waste Authority via Yankalilla Council. We had over 250 considered and informative responses which we have now condensed into a summary report which we have now presented to the council both as a hard copy and as a presentation.
You can read the full report Community Survey on Waste Services but some of the main conclusions and ideas were :
- The majority of residents have identified they require weekly general waste pickup
- Residents have indicated they require weekly general waste over xmas /new year period
- Bin-banks service to rural residents needs reconsideration – poor service with frustrations re bins filled by others
- Green waste depot costs are too high so we suggest returning to no cost with a voucher system.
- Residents request consideration of hard rubbish service once or twice per year
- Green waste service for rural residents OR no cost at the depot.
